Stop the gender discrimination!

i vowed to keep silent muna on social media beginning today, but i'll make this an exception because hearing about this in the news really riled me up, and i guess my reaction anyway is related to the redemption of humanity (although i know i'm not the world's savior), in this case of women as persons, as individuals.
It's indeed alarming that despite all the gains that women have made amid their struggles against sexism and stereotyping, despite all the world conferences that have sought to advance women's situation and also sought their empowerment alongside with that of men, there's still so much discrimination against women that's ongoing, in various fields of society. So many people still mistakenly view women as weak, or say that women are strong but only because men are stronger; who say that women don't deserve equal rights and opportunities; who believe that women should stand behind the men and not alongside them. Gender-sensitization advocacy and activities still have a long way to go. Keep the flame burning, keep the passion alive, gender and development advocates!

jack jones is in manila..and in youtube

One of my fave singers, Jack Jones, now 77 years old, is in Manila to have a concert today and tomorrow. He's held a few concerts here before and, just like tonight, I've never gone to any of those. 

Well, Jack (he sure looks like actor Robert Redford) may be out of my eyes and ears live tonight, but I'm doing the next best thing. I'm listening to him via YouTube!  Actually, I've been listening every now and then to him sing those wonderful songs on YouTube since the time that I "rediscovered" his wonderful talent via that wonderful website about a month ago. 

YouTube is really a minefield for getting in touch again with one's favorite musical artists. And, of course, also with the songs that have at one point, and maybe even continuing to this day, touched one's life.

2015--Christmas and New Year--2016

It's been a while since my last post. A lot has happened in my life from that last post and today currently--time is a luxury. Anyway, before this year ends, I'd like to greet everyone in the world a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! :)
