New Filipino film to watch "In His Mother's Eyes" - starring Maricel Soriano, Roderick Paulate, and LA Santos

I'm a big fan of "kakampink" Maricel Soriano, a very good actor who started as a popular child actor in the 1970s. She certainly took after her "daddy" Dolphy and "mommy" Nida Blanca (also among my fave actors) in the acting department. Dolphy and Nida were her co-stars in the long-time Filipino TV sitcom "John en Marsha" (played by Dolphy and Nida) where Maricel was one of the couple's (funny) kids. 

I'm just so happy that Maricel has a new film, together with Roderick Paulate, another very good actor with whom Maricel has done previous productions before. But this new film of theirs "In His Mother's Eyes" is not a comedy film unlike what Maricel and Roderick have done before. Nevertheless, both actors excel in drama as well and thus this film, I believe, is really worth looking forward to. It also stars a new actor, LA Santos who, judging by the film's trailer, can act!

I can't wait for the film to be shown this latter part of November 2023. I'd be the first in the film queue! :)

MANILA, Philippines — Christmas cheer and holiday treats filled Okada Manila’s Crystal Pavilion as the Noel Bazaar 2023 opened its 48-day run on Nov. 10.

The day kicked off with excitement as visitors were greeted by a festive atmosphere and a curated selection of merchants offering unique holiday finds. GMA Kapuso Foundation ambassador Mel Tiangco and Cut Unlimited Inc. managing director Justine Bautista opened the program while Inquirer Group of Companies CEO Sandy Prieto-Romualdez and GMA Kapuso celebrity ambassador Julie Anne San Jose shared special messages.

Fun-filled activities continued throughout the day, highlighted by a GMA Variety Show and Celebrity Auction.The audience was treated to performances by up-and-coming Pinoy Pop group Blvck Purple, Dave Bornea, and Lyra Micolob.

The much-anticipated auction saw attendees bidding on preloved items of GMA stars, with all proceeds going to the GMA Kapuso Foundation.

When night fell, the celebration transitioned into Okada Manila’s festive “Home of Wonder: A Christmas Wonderland” event, featuring a Christmas tree lighting ceremony, the official opening of the Christmas Village and the Christmas light show. San Jose, dubbed Asia’s “Limitless Star,” entertained guests with holiday tunes.

This year’s Noel Bazaar offers shoppers a wide selection of gifts, treats, special activities and Christmas entertainment every week.

The Noel Bazaar series at Okada Manila runs from Nov. 10 to Dec. 17, from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. daily.

Catch its next stop at the World Trade Center from Nov. 24 to Nov. 30 and at the Filinvest Tent Alabang on Dec. 8 to Dec. 10.

Ervin is 37 years old and has Stage 4, Gastric Cancer. He is from Liliw town of  Laguna, Philippines. His wife and two young kids have set up a GoFundMe page for him (courtesy of Aziza, his wife's cousin who is based in Britain).

Ervin is a former cook in a fastfood restaurant in Quezon City, Philippines, then transferred to their residence in Liliw to look after their children who are studying in the town; and do some planting and take care of some pigs for sale. His wife continued to work in Quezon City and went home to Liliw on weekends.

Hi, my name is Aziza and I am raising funds for Ervin in Laguna, Philippines. My cousin Kate's husband who is diagnosed last January with Stage IV Gastric Cancer.

Ervin has had a long journey of surgery and chemotherapy sessions. But every time he does chemo, he is always admitted first for a blood transfusion due to very low levels of haemoglobin. The CT scans have shown there were no significant changes and there was an increase in the size of his lymph nodes.

Last July 24-27, Ervin was admitted at Healthway Qualimed for blood transfusion and endoscopy (and did some tests). His gastro showed us there was bleeding in his stomach which is why his haemoglobin is always decreasing. He has no choice but to undergo surgery again this August to stop the bleeding.

As Kate is currently the sole provider and looking after their two children, external support to help fund Ervin's medical expenses would be greatly appreciated.Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this and for your contribution - large or small.
